Creating Conversations

Nightbird has been recommended to us by one of our regular Grief Cafe participants.

They describe it as “niche and potentially controversial”, but shared that it resonated with some of the more complex and difficult aspects of their experience, particularly feelings they had previously felt very alone with.

Drawing on the author’s own experiences, the book explores grief, trauma, abuse, shame, self-blame, and the long process of healing and making sense of what has happened. It may be particularly meaningful for those interested in how loss can intersect with difficult relationships and traumatic experiences.

While everyone’s experience of grief is different, our participant felt that many readers may find aspects of the story that connect with their own experiences of loss, change, and processing difficult emotions.

Please be aware that this book contains themes that some readers may find distressing, including domestic and emotional abuse, suicide, religious trauma, and mental health difficulties.
